What do you like about Europe?
I love the multi-cultural aspects of Europe; how things are the same, and yet different, dependent on where you are. I love trying new foods, understanding histories and meeting new (and existing) friends.

What did your country gave to Europe (music, literature, theatre, politics…)?
Members of most of the ruling houses of Europe, via Queen Victoria; Shakespeare; some great actors, classical artists and musicians.

What did Europe gave to your country (generals, kings & queens, artists, concepts)?
Great wines; good beers; Art Nouveau.

In result of your time at JCI: What did you love about JCI?
Above all, the fellowship – being able to contact people across the globe, knowing that there will be a warm welcome. It also gave me the skills to become the professional learning consultant I am today, JCI’s Prime (Train the Trainer workshop) was fundamental in teaching me these skills. Finally, the opportunity to travel the world and a safe environment, with people I trust.

What do you love about the Senate?
Becoming a ‘grandparent’ to the organization – being there, with other ‘oldies’, to offer advice if called upon (and to be ignored sometimes!) by the ‘parents’ (or current members), to support events, to babysit if necessary and most of all to bask in the reflected glory when it goes well. The fun and fellowship we have at Senate events – being able to stay in touch with people who have influenced me and yet still make new friends every time I travel with the Senate.

What is your vision for Europe in 2044, the 75th anniversary of the European Senate?
For Europe to be a cohesive, co-operative power in the world which works together to prevent wars, poverty and oppression wherever they may be. For the people of Europe to be educated, tolerant and dedicated to saving the earth’s resources.

What is the action you take to make that vision happen?
I get involved with charities which help preserve our natural resources; I usually pick up litter whenever I am out and about; I will always support initiatives which help reduce/eliminate poverty and oppression.
